About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced and commercially driven Field Sales & Business Development Manager to join an established supplier within the security and access-control sector.

This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished field sales professional to take ownership of business development across Hertfordshire and throughout the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for increasing brand awareness, generating new business and developing strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers.

You will promote a comprehensive range of door-entry, access-control and CCTV products, identifying new markets and establishing the business as a preferred supplier within the sector.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver a focused field sales and business development strategy.
Identify, target and secure new customers across Hertfordshire and the wider UK.
Increase brand awareness within relevant trade and commercial markets.
Build relationships with security installers, electrical contractors, facilities-management providers, property professionals and other trade customers.
Arrange and attend face-to-face meetings, site visits, product presentations and demonstrations.
Understand customers’ technical and commercial requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
Generate sales opportunities through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals and industry contacts.
Manage the complete sales cycle, from initial contact and qualification through to quotation, negotiation and close.
Develop existing accounts by identifying opportunities for repeat business, additional product lines and increased spend.
Maintain an accurate and well-managed pipeline of prospective and active opportunities.
Achieve agreed sales, revenue and new-business targets.
Monitor competitor activity, customer demand and wider market developments.
Attend relevant trade shows, exhibitions and networking events when required.
Work closely with internal sales and technical teams to deliver a knowledgeable and responsive customer experience.
Provide regular updates on activity, pipeline development and sales performance.
Represent the business professionally and act as a positive brand ambassador.

Skills and Experience

A strong and successful background in field sales and business development is essential.
Proven experience generating new business and developing a sales territory.
A demonstrable record of achieving or exceeding sales and revenue targets.
Confident approaching prospective customers by telephone, email, networking and face-to-face activity.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and convert profitable opportunities.
Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Comfortable engaging with business owners, installers, contractors, procurement teams and senior decision-makers.
Self-motivated, proactive and capable of managing a UK-wide sales territory.
Organised and disciplined, with the ability to maintain an accurate sales pipeline and plan appointments effectively.
Able to understand technical products and clearly communicate their features and benefits.
Competent using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly throughout the UK.

Experience within security systems, access control, door-entry systems, CCTV, electrical products, construction supplies or another technical trade environment would be advantageous. However, applicants with a strong transferable field sales background and the ability to learn a technical product range will also be considered.
