PROP FINISHERS / SANDERS
The ideal candidates will have strong practical experience in surface preparation, sanding and finishing, preferably within the theming, scenic, props, automotive, GRP, model making or fabrication industries.
This is a hands-on workshop role, working on bespoke and high-quality production pieces where attention to detail, finish quality and the ability to work to deadlines are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Sanding and preparing props, models and fabricated components for finishing.
- Preparing GRP, fibreglass, resin, foam, wood, metal and other substrates.
- Filling imperfections, pinholes, joins and surface defects.
- Working through different grades of abrasives to achieve the required finish.
- Preparing surfaces for primer, paint and other finishing processes.
- Identifying and correcting surface imperfections.
- Carrying out final finishing and preparation to a high standard.
- Working from drawings, samples, specifications and finish requirements.
- Working alongside mould makers, fibreglassers, painters and fabricators.
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Working efficiently to meet demanding production deadlines.
About You
We are looking for experienced finishers/sanders at mid to high level who can work confidently with minimal supervision.
You should have:
- Proven experience in prop finishing, sanding or surface preparation.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience working with GRP/fibreglass, resin, filler and composite materials.
- Good understanding of surface preparation and finishing processes.
- Ability to achieve clean, smooth and consistent surfaces.
- Good hand-finishing and sanding skills.
- Ability to identify imperfections and work out the best method to correct them.
- A reliable and professional approach to workshop work.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently when required.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising quality.
