We are recruiting for an established and growing business within the agricultural sector, looking to appoint an Area Sales Manager to manage and further develop an established territory.

Previous experience as an Area Sales Manager would be advantageous, however it is not essential. A strong understanding of farming and the agricultural sector, combined with proven sales, account management or business development experience, is the key requirement.

This presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced agricultural sales professional, or someone with strong commercial experience within the farming sector who is ready to take the next step into a territory management position.

The Role

Working closely with the UK Sales Manager and wider support teams, you will be responsible for developing both existing and new business across your designated territory.

Key responsibilities will include:

Managing and developing the designated sales territory
Developing strong relationships with existing customers and dealers
Identifying and securing new customer and dealer opportunities
Increasing sales volume and product mix through effective account management and business development
Building a strong network across the local farming and agricultural community
Reviewing dealer network performance and identifying opportunities for further growth
Developing and implementing local marketing and territory development plans
Working closely with technical colleagues and internal teams to meet customer requirements
Developing effective relationships with relevant Animal Health & Welfare contacts
Identifying potential partners and opportunities to expand business activity
Providing product and business development training and support to customers and prospective partners
Maintaining accurate CRM information and providing regular progress reports
Contributing to the wider growth and strategic plans of the business

About You

Strong agricultural knowledge is central to this appointment, with experience or knowledge of the dairy sector particularly desirable.

We are open to candidates from a range of agricultural backgrounds and you do not need to have previously held the title of Area Sales Manager.

You may currently be working within sales, account management, business development or another commercially focused position within the agricultural sector, with the knowledge and relationship-building skills required to progress into a wider territory management role.

We are looking for:

Strong knowledge and understanding of UK farming and agriculture
Experience within sales, account management or business development
Agricultural sector experience, with dairy knowledge particularly advantageous
A proven ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships
Commercial awareness and the ability to identify new business opportunities
Strong communication, networking and interpersonal skills
Negotiation and influencing skills
A proactive and self-motivated approach
The ability to understand and communicate technical product information
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems
Flexibility and willingness to travel throughout the territory

Experience within dairy, agricultural equipment, farm buildings, animal health, agricultural supplies or a related farming environment would be particularly relevant.

A degree within Agriculture or a related discipline would be beneficial, although relevant practical industry experience will be equally considered.
