Sales Engineer /Business Development Executive

Our client, a UK-based manufacturer of industrial motor control technology, is seeking a motivated and technically minded Sales Engineer / Business Development Executive to join their team. The company is renowned for its engineering excellence, offering advanced motor control solutions across the globe.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Growth & Business Development

Generate and develop new business opportunities through outbound sales activity.
Identify opportunities within OEMs, machine builders, industrial manufacturers, and systems integrators.
Target replacement and upgrade opportunities within existing DC drive installations.
Support growth of AC drives offerings, including new product introductions and energy recovery solutions.

Account Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers and channel partners.
Develop account growth plans and identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities.
Conduct regular customer reviews and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with distributors and reseller networks to maximise market reach.

Technical Sales Support

Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate AC and DC drive solutions.
Provide technical product guidance and initial application support.
Liaise with engineering and technical teams to deliver tailored customer solutions.
Prepare quotations, proposals, and commercial offers.

Pipeline & Commercial Management

Maintain accurate CRM records and sales forecasts.
Manage opportunities through a typical 2-3 month sales cycle.
Monitor quotation activity and follow up effectively to maximise conversion rates.
Contribute towards team sales targets and annual revenue objectives.

Market Development

Track competitor activity and market trends.
Identify opportunities created by competitor exits and changing market conditions.
Support the development of new routes to market and strategic accounts.
Attend customer meetings, trade exhibitions, and industry events where required.

Job Requirements:

Experience in technical sales, internal sales, business development, account management, sales engineering, or customer-facing roles.
Ideally Electrical or engineering knowledge, particularly related to industrial automation, motor control, drives, power electronics, or control systems.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to winning business.
Ability to understand technical applications and convert opportunities into sales.
Willingness to learn and devlop in the role.
Highly motivated, energetic, and self-driven personality.
Comfortable making outbound sales calls and developing new customer relationships.

Desirable

Previous experience selling AC drives, DC drives, inverters, motors, automation products, PLCs, controls, or industrial electrical equipment.
Experience working with OEM customers, machine builders, or industrial end-users.
Knowledge of industrial sectors such as materials handling, cranes, manufacturing, process industries, or automation.
Understanding of distribution and channel sales models.
