Financial Controller / Office Admin

Location: Sutton (Hybrid, minimum 1 day per week in the office)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 FTE (Pro Rata) DOE
Contract: Permanent
Working Pattern: Part Time, 25 Hours Per Week

The successful candidate will take ownership of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, compliance and payroll while providing HR coordination and administrative support to the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all day-to-day finance operations including sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliations and financial data entry.
Complete monthly trial balance reconciliations and maintain balance sheet reconciliation schedules.
Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Support annual budgeting and business planning processes.
Produce rolling forecasts, cash flow reports and variance analysis.
Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Prepare and submit VAT returns and statutory filings.
Manage payroll and pension administration.
Liaise with external accountants, auditors, banks and professional advisors.
Lead year-end accounts preparation processes.
Monitor and improve financial controls, reporting and business processes.
Maintain employee records, HR documentation and compliance records.
Support HR policies, procedures and employee administration activities.
Manage holiday, absence and training records.
Act as a point of contact for general HR administration queries.
Work closely with senior management to support commercial decision-making and business growth.

Essential Requirements

ACA or ACCA qualified.
Approximately 5 years' post-qualified experience within a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar role.
Strong experience using Xero.
Experience producing management accounts and financial reporting within an SME environment.
Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience.
Excellent knowledge of UK VAT, payroll and accounting standards.
Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and financial analysis.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Commercially focused with a proactive, hands-on approach.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of key responsibilities.

Desirable Skills

Previous experience within an SME or owner-managed business.
HR administration or HR coordination experience.
Knowledge of HR best practice and employment legislation.
Experience implementing process improvements and automation.
Experience developing financial reporting tools and dashboards.
