As an Assistant Accountant in Newport within the financial services industry, you'll help manage the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently. Description

Assist with preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Reconcile accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies promptly.
Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Maintain and update financial records in line with company policies.
Assist with VAT returns and other tax compliance tasks.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
Handle general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
Provide support during internal and external audits.

Profile

A successful Assistant Accountant should have:

A strong foundation in accounting principles and financial processes.
Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
Experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
Relevant accounting qualifications or working towards one.
