Residential Support Worker – Colchester

TeacherActive is currently recruiting Residential Support Workers to work within residential and specialist settings across Colchester and the surrounding areas, supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs.

The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in creating a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for the young people in your care.

Your responsibilities may include:

Supporting children and young people with their day-to-day routines
Providing emotional and practical support
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive life skills
Building trusting and professional relationships with young people
Supporting individuals with SEND, SEMH and challenging behaviours
Helping young people access education, activities and the local community
Following individual care and support plans
Maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns appropriately
Working closely with colleagues and other professionals to provide consistent support
Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and positive outcomes at all times

The Ideal Candidate

We would love to hear from you if you:

Have experience working with children or young people in residential care, SEND, education, youth work or a similar setting
Are patient, compassionate and resilient
Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Are comfortable working as part of a team
Have a genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people
Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Previous residential support experience is desirable; however, candidates with transferable experience from care, SEND, education, youth work or support work are also encouraged to apply.
