Mechanical Maintenance Technician – Energy Recovery Facility
Location: Exeter
Salary: £49,000 per annum+ Call out allowance+ Bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30–16:30
Bonus: Up to 10% discretionary annual bonus
On-Call: 1 week in 4
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a well-established Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) in Exeter.
You will play a key role in maintaining the site's mechanical plant and equipment, supporting the Operations team and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
The role will also involve supporting plant improvement projects, helping to increase reliability, improve performance and reduce operational costs.
The Role
- Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance across the site.
- Identifying faults and carrying out repairs on mechanical plant and equipment.
- Supporting the Operations team with breakdowns and maintenance requirements.
- Working in line with Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and safe operating procedures.
- Supporting improvement projects focused on plant reliability and cost reduction.
- Assisting with the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety across all maintenance activities.
Equipment You'll Work With
The facility operates a wide range of heavy process equipment, including:
- Conveyors
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- High-pressure pumps
- Water systems
- Motors
- Steam boilers
About You
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Fitter with experience working within a process, heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
- Experience carrying out planned and preventative maintenance.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
- Experience within heavy engineering, FMCG, process manufacturing, Energy from Waste, naval or military environments.
- The ability to work effectively within a high-pressure production environment.
- Good communication and written skills.
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures.
- Previous supervisory or team-leading experience would be advantageous.
- Fabrication and welding skills would be beneficial.
Package & Benefits
£49,000 salary+ £2,160 annual on-call payment, before call-outs
Up to 10% annual discretionary bonus
£20 per day Monday–Friday while on call
£40 per day Saturday & Sunday while on call
Minimum 4-hour payment for call-outs
1.5x overtime following the minimum call-out period
25 days holiday + bank holidays
