Senior Warehouse Operative

Salary: £30,000–£36,000 per annum, depending on experience
Location: Rochester, Kent
Job type: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 5:00am–2:00pm
Essential requirement: Proven counterbalance forklift experience

The Role

We are seeking a dependable and capable Senior Warehouse Operative to join our team in Rochester.

You may already be working in a supervisory position or be a strong warehouse team member who is ready to take the next step. We are keen to speak with applicants who know how a busy warehouse operates, have the right attitude and credentials, and can confidently guide and support others.

This is a hands-on position combining responsibility for coordinating the warehouse in the day-to-day operation. The successful candidate will help ensure that all warehouse activities are completed safely, accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor productivity, order accuracy and operational standards while identifying opportunities to improve warehouse processes.
Operate a counterbalance forklift safely and competently when required.
Pick, pack and palletise customer orders accurately, loading goods securely into vans for delivery.
Check incoming deliveries carefully against the relevant paperwork.
Carry out stock rotation and stocktaking to support accurate inventory control.
Undertake all manual-handling duties safely and follow company health and safety procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe and well-organised warehouse environment.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

A solid background working in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Proven ability to operate a counterbalance forklift safely and competently—this is essential.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to carry out the manual-handling requirements of the role safely.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a busy environment.
A reliable and punctual approach, with the ability to work the stated early-shift hours.
The right to work in the UK.
