Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Secondary School, Birmingham
Contract Type: Full-time, term time only
Start Date: Early September 2026

About the Role

We are looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Birmingham. This is a 1:1 support role, working closely with a male student to help him access learning and develop confidence in the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive school environment. The role has strong potential to become long term or even permanent for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student across lessons and throughout the school day
Help the student stay engaged, focused, and included in learning activities
Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to support the student’s needs
Adapt learning materials where needed to support understanding
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
Build a strong, trusting relationship with the student

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting
A patient, calm, and understanding approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
