Legal Secretary - Probate

Location: Poole, Dorset
Salary: £26,000-£27,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

TeamJobs is delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a well-established and highly regarded law firm within their Probate Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional, organised, and proactive individual who enjoys working in a client-focused environment and providing high-quality support to fee earners.

The Role

As a Legal Secretary, you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to solicitors dealing with probate, estate administration, wills, and lasting powers of attorney. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the department while delivering an exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities

Audio and copy typing of correspondence, legal documents, and reports.
Preparing probate applications and supporting documentation.
Opening and closing client files in line with firm procedures.
Managing diaries, arranging appointments, and coordinating meetings.
Handling telephone enquiries and liaising with clients, beneficiaries, and third parties.
Preparing bills and assisting with the administration of client matters.
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Managing incoming and outgoing post and emails.
Providing general administrative support to the Probate team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

Previous experience as a Legal Secretary, ideally within a Probate or Private Client department.
Excellent typing and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
A professional and confidential approach when handling sensitive information.

Desirable

Experience using legal case management systems.
Knowledge of probate procedures and estate administration.
Previous experience working within a solicitors' practice.
