Site Manager / Caretaker Required - Secondary School, Perry Barr

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager / Caretaker to join a friendly and welcoming Good-rated Secondary School in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and proactive individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment. The school has a supportive leadership team, friendly staff and pupils, and a positive working atmosphere.

The role is full-time and will run until the end of August 2026, with the potential to become a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.

The Role

As Site Manager / Caretaker, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance and security of the school premises, ensuring the site remains safe, clean and operational at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

Opening and closing the school site
Ensuring the security of buildings and grounds
Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs
Managing health and safety procedures across the site
Monitoring contractors and external visitors on site
Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the school grounds
Undertaking routine inspections and reporting any issues
Supporting with site set-up for school events and activities
Managing statutory compliance checks where required
Responding to emergency maintenance issues

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience as a School Site Manager, Caretaker, Premises Manager or Facilities Manager
Has experience working within a school environment (highly desirable)
Possesses good DIY and maintenance skills
Has a sound understanding of health and safety regulations
Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
Has excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to work
Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one
