Accounts & Office Assistant

Shepton Mallet | 24 Hours per Week | £24,000 per annum

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and looking for a varied role where no two days are the same?

We're looking for an Accounts & Office Assistant to become a key part of our clients established family business. Supporting both our Financial Controller and the Managing Director, you'll play a central role in keeping our accounts function running smoothly while helping to manage the day-to-day operations of a busy office.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, improving processes and being at the heart of a successful business.

The Role

Accounts

Process purchase and sales invoices
Record payments and receipts accurately
Assist with credit control and supplier payments
Maintain financial records using Xero
Reconcile bank accounts and transactions
Support month-end accounting activities
Produce reports and spreadsheets using Excel
Liaise with suppliers, customers and external accountants

Office Administration

Provide support to the Managing Director
Maintain and improve office systems and procedures
Manage company records and documentation
Support recruitment administration and onboarding
Coordinate insurance renewals and policy records
Liaise with IT providers, contractors and other external partners
Manage office supplies and general office requirements
Handle emails, correspondence and telephone enquiries
Support colleagues across the business as required

About You

You'll be proactive, organised and able to manage competing priorities with confidence. You take pride in getting the details right, enjoy solving problems and are comfortable working independently.

You'll have:

Strong administrative and organisational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
The ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines
A professional and confidential approach

Experience of Xero is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided.
