We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy and successful business.

This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of finance administration while working closely with the wider team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Reconcile bank, cash and credit card accounts.
Maintain debtor and creditor ledgers.
Prepare, submit and reconcile VAT returns.
Process monthly direct debit collections.
Post journals, including prepayments and accruals.
Complete account reconciliations through to trial balance at year end.
Ensure financial deadlines and statutory requirements are met.
Assist with monthly billing and invoicing.
Process payroll using Sage Payroll.
Provide general office support, including answering telephone enquiries and assisting with ad hoc administrative duties.

Skills & Experience Required:

Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar bookkeeping role.
Essential experience using Sage 50 Accounts.
Sage Payroll experience is desirable but not essential.
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet software.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.

Qualifications (Desirable):

AAT qualification or equivalent.
