We have a brand new opportunity for a full time Housing Support Worker to join our Housing team based in Sidcup. Due to the nature of the role it is essential for the successful applicant to hold a valid driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.

Reporting to the Group Housing Manager, you will ensure our tenants are provided with excellent housing support services including but not limited to;

Promote and uphold the privacy, dignity, rights, health, safety and wellbeing of people using Avenues services;
Establish and promote professional relationships with colleagues and those connected to the people who use Avenues services;
Manage a caseload of tenants;
Visit tenants to provide housing support and help them to meet their housing needs, this includes providing advice, help with benefit claims and paying rent, reporting repairs;
Carry out/monitor Health & Safety property checks/processes as required;
Ensure that all records are kept up to date and any summary reports required are accurate are delivered on time
Work with other colleagues and agencies to ensure any risks are identified and promptly addressed
Take ownership of own personal development and the quality of work.For full details please see role profile.

What knowledge and experience should you have?

A background and evidence of providing support or housing related support in supported living accommodation.
An understanding and ability to support tenants with daily living skills related to housing.
An understanding of housing management services, welfare benefits and relevant legislation.
Experience of working with people with learning disabilities/autism/ acquired brain injury would be beneficial.
An understanding of health and safety requirements as they relate to supported living services.
Good team working skills, able to work collaboratively with colleagues and other stakeholders across a geographically dispersed organisation to deliver services.
Ability to work sensitively with tenants and stake-holders.
Sound analytical skills supported by excellent computer literacy.What skills and abilities will you need?

Able to work effectively on your own, planning and prioritising your work.
Attention to detail, tenacity and an ability to get to the root of an issue and work with others to address it.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good organisation and a planned approach to work tasks.
A positive problem solving attitude and enjoy working with people.
Able to start and finish work, ensuring that other stakeholders are involved and consulted.
