We’ve made great strides in delivering skills programmes across the West Midlands, which are designed to improve skills, support local business to grow and provide support to our residents and communities, but we want to do more.

With newly secured funding from UK Shared Prosperity fund, we can move into the next phase of our investment plan with a range of programmes. Working in partnership with Local Authorities, we’ll move the West Midlands closer to a joined-up skills and business support offer, bringing more services in scope for regional planning and away from Whitehall.

We’re looking for a Project Manager to support our programmes from initiation through to implementation and delivery.

You’ll work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and support on a wide range of projects. You’ll use a range of tools and guidance, assisting in coordinating activities, understand and explain project risks and mitigate issues.

This is a unique opportunity to get involved with a new funding stream and support the development of existing and up and coming projects.

What will you be doing?

* Support the development and implementation of agreed projects central to the Economic Delivery, Skills and Communities Directorate

* Develop, implement and maintain robust project processes and systems ensuring that project aims, and objectives are satisfactorily met and evidenced including timelines and critical paths

* Provide update reports on the progress and outcomes of critical projects which are in planning and delivery stages to a variety of audiences

* Creating and coordinating risk registers for projects/programmes to document and monitor agreed mitigations, working closely with WMCA Assurance and Finance

* Work with WMCA Assurance in order support project proposals through the internal Strategic Assurance Framework (SAF) processes

* Provide support to the directorate with engagement of legal, procurement, financial and other advice where identified, including external commissioning

About you

You’ll have a background in project and programme support, not just focussed on the planning but can demonstrate how you have implemented and delivered outcomes.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and able to work with a variety of people and delivery partners. You’ll need advanced skills in Excel and other MS Office applications to support delivery of key documents and data.

You'll be able to communicate to a diverse range of people, have effective time management skills, be comfortable working on your own initiative and be able to work across the team.

This is a busy and fast paced team, you'll need to be comfortable working at pace and understand how priorities can change, be able to manage a number of activities and be flexible in how you work
