We are looking for a Corporate Insurance Specialist to join the team. This is a specialist role that takes responsibility for WMCA’s insurance arrangements, and its connected bodies, ensuring adequate coverage and claim management arrangements are in place for all assets and liabilities.

What will you be doing?

* Provide specialist advice on WMCA’s insurance requirements, ensuring that all relevant risks and liabilities are covered as appropriate and that changing business requirements are incorporated into the relevant policies of insurance

* Be the point of contact between WMCA and the insurance broker in respect the administration of insurance claims, and the monitoring of claims management arrangements

* Complete an annual review with relevant departments to determine an annual valuation and risk profile of all assets including properties, ICT systems, and operational liabilities for insurance renewal purposes

* Ensure the renewal or replacement of contracts as defined within contract terms. Manage the budget, contracts and the contract relations with insurers and the broker; maintaining a professional relationship, while ensuing the WMCA’s best interests are maintained.

* Monitor the level of claims across WMCA policies and identify any trends and implications, advising Risk Manager and WMCA managers as necessary

The role joins our Finance & Business Hub in providing essential high-quality, responsive, and agile enabling services to the West Midlands Combined Authority and its directorates in areas such as human resources, procurement, commercial investments, assurance and appraisal, financial control and administration, and financial and business planning and performance reporting.

About you

The responsibility of this position is managing detailed, specialised work efficiently, with confidence and competence. As our Corporate Insurance Specialist, you will have:

* specialist knowledge within the commercial insurance sector, gained either in-house with another medium sized organization or from a brokerage or insurance provider

* attention to detail, concerned for the exact correctness of work, and strong commitment to tasks completed on time

* disciplined approach to work, with a strong sense of duty

The role requires someone with a conservative, careful, and cautious approach to work. Our ideal applicant will be extremely task oriented, with high standards of quality and accuracy, be comfortable adhering to established guidelines and procedures, and be comfortable with making decisions in area of specialty.
