Colas Ltd has been awarded the 8-year Maintenance and Response contract for Area 9 by National Highways. Worth £328m the contract covers the Strategic Road Network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Across a total lane length of around 3,760 km of motorway and trunk roads, Colas will deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response and minor works in a region that has five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions as well as being at the heart of the new HS2 network and where Colas has a long-established base.

Colas are now looking to hire a Commercial Manager who will work alongside the Highways England Commercial Team and the AD Community to deliver the Area 9 Contract. This person will also support the Colas Area 9 General Manager & Network Manager to provide commercial governance in accordance with NEC4 TMC to deliver the tendered operational solution. This is a full-time and permanent role based in the West Midlands.

Main ResponsibilitiesThe candidate will lead the Commercial Team, establish processes and ensure correct implementation and operation. You will establish collaborative systems including CEMAR and SharePoint to effectively administer the Contract as well as embed our non-confrontational culture in day-to-day work practices. The role will also include, but is not limited to, working with the Quality, Performance and Lean Manager to develop performance dashboards to effectively monitor and manage performance.

The Ideal CandidateThe candidate must have experience in a role with similar responsibilities with experience in the highways sector as well as HNC/HND/BTEC level qualifications in Construction / Civil Engineering as a minimum.
