Colas Ltd has been awarded the 8-year Maintenance and Response contract for Area 9 by National Highways. Worth £328m the contract covers the Strategic Road Network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Across a total lane length of around 3,760 km of motorway and trunk roads, Colas will deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response and minor works in a region that has five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions as well as being at the heart of the new HS2 network and where Colas has a long-established base.

Colas are now looking to hire a Lead Planner to provide planning management to contract operations for the business and coordinate with works order schedulers and logistics supervisors. This is a full-time and permanent role based in Coleshill.

Main ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibilities for this role revolve around build an operational delivery programme across all works streams, Roadspace Booking and managing the Works Order Management System as well as the clustering of works to minimise network occupancy and maximise efficiencies. 

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will have experience in the highways sector and a proven ability to cluster works and maximise network closures as well as an understanding and experience in the use of project management software relevant to the role.
