Minor Schemes Manager

Colas Ltd has been awarded the 8-year Maintenance and Response contract for Area 9 by National Highways. Worth £328m the contract covers the Strategic Road Network within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire as well as parts of Gloucestershire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

Across a total lane length of around 3,760 km of motorway and trunk roads, Colas will deliver cyclical maintenance, reactive maintenance, incident response, severe weather response and minor works in a region that has five strategically critical motorway interchange junctions as well as being at the heart of the new HS2 network and where Colas has a long-established base.

Colas are now looking to hire a Minor Schemes Manager to get involved in the delivery of secured works ensuring management of Key Client expectations and ongoing liaison of all works, whilst ensuring compliance with Quality and Safety good practice. This is a full-time and permanent role based in the West Midlands.

Main ResponsibilitiesThrough your leadership and direction to all site personnel, you will promote and encourage safety awareness, encouraging a zero tolerance to unsafe acts and a zero target for LTIs. The scope of this role also includes, but is not limited to, ensuring management of all labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, including planning and order placement.  

The Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is likely to have experience of a leadership role with experience in highways construction and maintenance as well as a ONC/HNC/HND qualification in Construction / Civil Engineering as a minimum.
