Are you a capable, organised administrator who is looking for a new challenge? We are looking for someone to help us manage and adapt to new ways of working at our RSPB Cymru, Wales Headquarters office.

Finance Officer/Office Manager
Location: Cardiff
Salary: £21,622.00 - £23,987.00 Per Annum
Benefits: Pension, Life Assurance, 26 days Annual Leave (pro-rata)
Duration: 12 months

This is a Fixed-Term, Full-Time role for 12 months. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.

What's the role about?

The Finance Officer aspect of the role will support the RSPB Cymru Leadership and management teams to oversee the annual country budget and to undertake other financial administration and support for the team to ensure all income and expenditure is properly tracked and accounted for and provide timely and accurate information as and when required and support in the budget process for Wales.

The Office Manager aspect of the role will ensure the smooth running of RSPB Cymru HQ Cardiff office, ensure the environment and facilities are looked after, provide business support to colleagues, so that staff and volunteers operate efficiently, safely and ensure we meet our environmental standards (Green Dragon accreditation). Responsibilities include management of the office premises, equipment and maintenance contracts, oversight of our fleet cars, maintaining and procuring materials, providing support to our UK IT colleagues for our local servers and telecom systems, as well as other administrative tasks as and when required.

Essential skills, knowledge, and experience:

* Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range audience whether it be in person, via telephone, email, internal colleagues or external organisations and members of the public

* Financial analysis skills

* Ability to read and understand complex budget information

* Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

* Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information and also knowledge of document management

* Able to make the best use of time particularly when under pressure from competing priorities, prioritising and delegating tasks effectively, during periods of both low and high demand.

* A positive attitude to proactively identifying and solving problems.

* Able to secure support from colleagues for safe environment working and lead on our developing new ways of working.

Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:

* Experience of providing administrative support within a large and complex organisation.

* Spoken Welsh.

* Interest in the environment and sustainable living

* Support for RSPB’s mission and values, and an understanding of/willingness to learn about the RSPB’s work in Wales in order to best support this in the office environment
