Medical Receptionist (Trainee), GP Surgery based in Fenny Compton, Salary £9.50 per hour, benefits include above statutory holiday entitlement and additional training.

 

The Company:

Are you looking to start your career as a Medical Receptionist? Are you looking to gain a qualification whilst doing so? We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly and rural practice. You will be part of a well-respected, supportive Practice that prides itself on providing high quality care for its patients. As first point of contact for our patients, their families and visitors, it is vital that the successful candidate provide a high standard of customer service.

 

The Practice is supported by our excellent multidisciplinary team, operating from purpose built premises across two sites. We provide high quality care to approximately 5,200 patients, and are a high achieving, well organised dispensing practice.

 

This role will be a permanent role, 30 hours per week as part of a rota over set days, with the view to place the successful candidate on an apprenticeship/training course to upskill them in the business administration sector. You will be required to work across both locations, and have the flexibility to provide cover at times.

Medical Receptionist Main Duties:

  • Opening up/locking up the Practice premises, and maintaining security.
  • Answering all incoming telephone calls, including handling requests for “urgent” calls.
  • Taking notes of messages, inputting them onto the system taking great care to record accurate names, and contact information.
  • Maintaining and monitoring the Practice appointment system.
  • Processing requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, ensuring the patient is directed to the appropriate healthcare professional.
  • Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail, including date stamping incoming mail.
  • Managing the filing system for the notes, and filing and retrieving paperwork.
  • Computer data entry/data allocation and collations; processing and recording information in accordance with Practice procedures i.e. next of kin, change of address, read coding.
  • Monitoring and processing requests for the Practice email.
  • Providing clerical assistance to Practice staff as required from time to time, including Word/data processing, filing, photocopying, designing of posters, shredding, laminating.
  • Any other duties as required from the role.

Medical Receptionist Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience within a similar role not necessary as willing to place candidate on an apprenticeship/training course in the business administration sector.
  • Previous experience working within a GP practice or other healthcare environment is desirable, but not necessary (as above).
  • Sound understanding of the need for professional confidentiality.
  • Good standard of numeracy and literacy is essential.
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, including on the telephone.
  • Excellent level of customer service skills, with the ability to be compassionate.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of EMIS Web clinical computer system is desirable.
