This is a unique opportunity for an experienced IT professional to work within our Enterprise Architects team and work across one of the biggest IT estates in Europe, supporting large-scale transformation with profound impact on HMRC customers, other government agencies and HMRC staff members – playing a crucial role in defining standards, tools and artefacts to be used across HMRC.
Job description
You’ll be working within the wider Enterprise Architecture team, who:
. Set the Enterprise Architecture Strategy.
. Ensure Architectural Governance standards are upheld.
. Offer Consulting services – supporting Solution architects with the production of high-level solution design documents.
. Develop architectural roadmaps, showing transitions from AS-IS to TO-BE.
Working within the broader Enterprise Architecture team you will play a key role in the development of Enterprise Architectural Standards, Tools and Artefacts.
Your initial focus will be on the adoption of architecture tooling and modelling standards, strongly influencing how Enterprise Architecture operates across the Department.
You will work across a broad range of technology and business areas with plenty of opportunity to further develop your architecture skills and experience.
Responsibilities
. Development of Architectural Standards and Artefacts.
. Establishing and driving forwards the use of a central architectural repository
. Supporting others in the use of architectural tooling (such as Avolution Abacus).
. Developing the use of architectural models across HMRC to be applied to current, transitional and to-be architectures.
. Communicating Enterprise Architecture collateral across the wider architecture community.
Essential Criteria
You will already have knowledge and experience of:
. Working in an Enterprise Architecture environment.
. Architectural modelling languages (such as ArchiMate, BPMN2, UML).
. The use of Architectural Modelling Tools (such as Avolution Abacus).
. Developing Architecture Standards and Artefacts.
. Management/propagation of Architectural repositories.
. Communicating complex/technical topics to technical and non-technical people alike.
. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with partners at a senior level.
. Working under broad direction in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment.
. Seeing the bigger picture and considering the wider consequences of decisions made.
Desirable Criteria
. TOGAF and / or BCS certification in Enterprise/Solution architecture.
. Experience in upskilling others (i.e. mentoring, conducting training sessions)
. Consultancy experience – working with others to understand their needs and propose workable suggestions to how these might be met.
. Specific experience in Avolution Abacus.
. Specific experience in ArchiMate
