Position: Support Worker

Location: Oakwood, Stoke-on-Trent

Hours: 07.30am – 20:00pm (2 week rolling rota – every other weekend off)

Salary Details: £9.99 per hour plus pay rise pending 

Oakwood House is a supported living unit in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent city. We support adults with learning disabilities and who are on the autistic spectrum disorders to transition from mental health hospitals into a community setting. We have capacity for up to eight adults across two levels. All our rooms have en-suite bathroom facilities, a separate bedroom and lounge and access to a fully equipped shared kitchen area.

Our tenants enjoy a number of activities; attending football matches, trips to the seaside and areas of interest, along with shopping!

One of our tenants attends college and some are empowered to undertake voluntary work!

So, the question is, are you a committed individual who wants to work with a company that understands how important Support Workers are to our tenant’s recovery?

We are currently looking to appoint Full time Support Workers to join our friendly team at Oakwood. Free parking is provided, and we have excellent bus and train links for non-drivers.

You will be working with Adults (18-65 years old) with autism, complex needs and some who display forms of challenging behaviour.

Key Skills

Experience in a Caring environment preferred, but not essential
Able to work days, evenings, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays
Good communication skills, allowing you to engage & interact with our tennants
Ability to keep calm under pressure
Confidence to work alone and also be part of a team (family)
Passionate about making a difference to someone else life
Good written skills
Able to fulfil the sleep-in duties in accordance with the agreed rota
Driver preferred but not essential
