Are you a confident Speech and Language Therapist looking for a rewarding clinical post in a community provision? Cygnet Health Care are looking to recruit a dedicated and passionate SLT who has an interest in learning disability, autism and mental health.

Lowry House, Hyde (SK143BS) is a 12 bed purpose built residential home that consists of six discrete self-contained apartments configured to meet the needs of the residents in single occupancy, or two or three bed apartments for men and women. The service is rated outstanding for responsive and good overall with CQC.

Woodrow House, Stockport (SK44PE) is an ‘outstanding’ community specialist residential home that offers a nine placements consisting of five self-contained apartments configured to meet the needs of the residents in single occupancy or a four bed home with communal living areas.

Ongoing assessment and high staffing levels means that we are able to meet the changing needs of service users as they progress through their care pathway, while ensuring their safety is maintained and their independence supported. Both homes providing outcome focused care for adults with learning disabilities, who may have behaviours that challenge and associated complex needs.  Regular review meetings involving the resident, their family and professionals are held to set new goals and re-assess support levels as individuals progress.

The Job Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will deliver our evidence-based SLT pathway to meet the needs of the complex client group. To do this, you will apply your therapeutic skills to assess, advise and intervene with the aim of promoting functional communication systems and optimal independence.  You will have grounded clinical and professional skills and be confident in training others and promoting good practice. A key part of this role includes accountability for the identification, development and implementation of a successful inclusive communication environment.  Line management supervision will be provided by the Service manager and clinical / professional supervision by a Speech and Language Therapist (Band 7 or above).

Postgraduate qualification in the management of dysphagia is desirable; we will train you in dysphagia management if required.

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist with:

Experience in the field of Learning Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorders and Mental Health Conditions.
Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support with an emphasis on person-centred planning.
Qualification in Dysphagia management desirable; we will train you if required.
Evidence of being a strong team player with a genuine desire to help others
Good organisational and project management skills
Enthusiasm, motivation, innovation and passion.The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance
