We are looking for a bold individual who isn't afraid to try things that they haven't experienced before. We need a real go-getter who likes to think outside the box and is prepared to fail as this is an important part of the role. Projects and events will be your passion and you will be someone who wants to make a real difference.

This is an extremely fast-paced and diverse role and would suit someone who wants to produce events and loves a challenge. You will get to work across all avenues of the business and play an integral part in arranging live and virtual events including reward ceremonies, party conferences, studio productions, exhibitions and railway station launches.

We treat our internal colleagues like clients and it will be your role to support them in every way that you can. You will be working on large scale projects for each of our directorates and dealing with multiple clients and multiple projects at once. It will be your responsibility to take the lead on some of these projects and make sure that they are a success. As a Public Relations Executive you will be relied upon to bring your own ideas to the table and challenge the norm.

What will you be doing?

* Co-ordinate and deliver a number of complex communications projects simultaneously, ensuring that the dependencies between them are effectively identified and delivered

* Deliver a complete hands-on events service including planning, implementation, equipment, transport and graphics provision and staffing

* Represent the West Midlands Combined Authority at party political and other conferences and parliamentary events and liaise with councillors, MPs, stakeholders and opinion formers

* Co-ordinate and deliver a programme of written, verbal, electronic and digital PR communications to support key WMCA activities

* Provide professional advice and guidance on public relations issues to other specialist teams as required

* Represent the WMCA at public engagement events, exhibitions and conferences including staffing the exhibition bus out of normal working hours

* Build and manage internal and external relationships as well as partnership networks to identify and capitalise on positive publicity opportunities

* Develop and deliver a programme of engagement activities designed to support ongoing communications programmes

About you

You will need to have a background in event planning, organisation and delivery and be able to work collaboratively. A team player is essential for this role!

It is essential that you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills as you will be working with people across different levels so you need to be able to forge strong relationships.

Strong time management is key and experience within a fast paced environment is a must due to the multitude of projects you will be working on. Meeting tight deadlines and working well under pressure will be something that you are no stranger to.

Experience in producing corporate documents, researching, editing and proof reading is a must. It is key that you have knowledge of engagement tools, strong project management experience and have previously been involved in leading and designing communication projects.

A qualification in public relations, event management or events would be desirable.

A technical understanding of events, political awareness and a keen interest in current affairs is advantageous.
