Our financial planning is linked to our aims and objectives and annual business plan. As Financial Planning & Coordination Manager, you’ll manage the full financial planning for the WMCA.

You’ll play a key part in determining the process to understand how we will financially deliver on these. Working closely with our Finance Business Partners, you’ll ensure that our financial planning reflects the activity and plans of our directorates now and in the future.

You’ll be coming in at an exciting time to transform how we deliver financial planning and analysis.

Your new role will work across the Finance team and wider functions to really look at the whole picture, understand the finances of the WMCA and how best to use financial resources to meet our short and medium term objectives.

What will you be doing?

* Following dialogue with the Senior Leadership Team, define, agree, implement, monitor and report outputs from all annual capital and revenue financial planning arrangements; culminating in the approval by WMCA Board of the final budget during Quarter 4

* Ensure robust challenge, scenario planning and appraisal of options to ensure financial plans are accurate, thereby aiding effective decision making

* Ensure effective input into the process for monitoring and reporting of delivery of organisational efficiencies where necessary

* Maintain close relationships with the Finance Business Partner network to ensure risks / issues/opportunities are fully reflected in all emerging financial plans and financial monitoring reports

* Define and ensure the rollout of effective processes and practices underpinning the month-end monitoring and budgeting cycles

About you

You’ll have a background in management accounting with well-developed stakeholder management and communication skills. Ideally, you’ll be used to working in a large complex organisation.

You’ll be able to work collaboratively with others when is comes to financial planning, understand how to extract key information quickly and really understand how to bring together information and produce solid financial planning for the WMCA. Key will be the ability to see the bigger picture.

You’ll be self-motivated, understand when deadlines can’t be comprised and know how to get things done with minimal supervision.

The above provides a flavour of the experience, skills and knowledge we’re looking for, you can get more detail from the job description by emailing us. We would encourage you to read through the JD so you can fully demonstrate how you meet the criteria
