The role of Centre Lathe Machinist:

• Able to read engineering drawings and job orders
• Set and operate conventional centre lathe
• Inspect work to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, and micrometers
• Lift, position and secure metal stock or work pieces manually or using crane hoists
• Troubleshoot machining problems during processes to ensure efficacy of procedure
• Complete all reports and other paperwork associated with machining projects in process
• Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines, equipment and tools used in all processes

Previous conventional centre lathe experience is essential, whilst experience in using overhead cranes is preferred.
