We are currently recruiting for an Employment & Skills Adviser to join our client in based in Midlothian. Working 35 hours per week; Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 5.00pm and Friday from 8.30am to 2.30pm with 1 hour lunch per day unpaid. The gross salary will be £32,500 per annum, subject to confirmation of relevant experience. 30 days holiday entitlement per year, inclusive of Public/Bank Holidays.

There will be a six-month Probation Period at the end of which there will be a Benchmark Appraisal. Thereafter, Appraisals will take place twice per annum. During the Probation Period one month's notice of termination of employment will be required on either side. Thereafter, the notice period on your side, will be one month and the notice period to give the company will be three months.

You must hold a valid driving licence for this role.

Duties:

To develop, support, implement and maintain key policies that will assist the company and SJIB Members on a wide range of employment issues and assist the Director of Employment & Skills in their delivery.
To support the work of various Committees, including the production of accurate Agendas and Minutes.
To provide services to the Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB), and guidance and advice to SJIB and Member Companies.
To provide administrative support for skills and development.
Review, develop and maintain key policies on a wide range of employment issues on behalf of the company and the SJIB and support the Director of Employment & Skills/Secretary of the SJIB in their delivery.
Produce updates, guidance notes, circulars and articles for use in our magazine and our website for Member Companies on relevant topics and changes to employment law.
Review, develop and maintain the companys internal Human Resource records, processes, policies and procedures.
Support, participate and provide administrative support for the companys and SJIB Committees ensuring actions are implemented in a timely manner.
Support, participate and provide administrative support for skills and development work undertaken by the company.
To always act according to the staff's shared values and customer service standards.Skills:

An in-depth knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and best practices.
The ability to analyse, monitor and understand legislation in order to develop and produce guidance which promotes good employment practice in a timely manner.
Through interpersonal skills, the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with the Directors of Function, Line Managers, Member companies and the industry Trade Union.
The ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively using a variety of mediums.
Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and database, and in the general use of IT systems and programmes.
The ability to prepare surveys, analyse data and produce quantitative and qualitative reports which illustrate key points.
Knowledge of employment law.
Knowledge of analysing statistical data
Attention to detail
Experience in preparing briefing notes and presentations is desirable
Knowledge of Investors in People is also desirable
Experience in administering HR processes and procedures
Experience in recruitment
Experience in providing employment advice.
Experience of designing and writing employment policies and procedures
Experience in preparing Agendas and Minutes.
