Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Research Assistant to work on a full-time, long-term contract with a local police force in Liverpool.

Job purpose:

To provide administrative and technical assistance to the Policy and Commissioning Officers on local and national policy issues which may impact on the police service, to ensure compliance with legal and professional standards.

Responsibilities:

To undertake research as directed by the Policy and Commissioning Officer to ensure that the Commissioner and Force comply with relevant legal, national and best practice guidelines ensuring an efficient and effective service is delivered by the Police & crime Commissioner.

To provide administrative support to the Policy and Commissioning Officer including assistance with the preparation of reports, briefings and presentations associated with all aspects of policy and initiatives which may impact on the police service.

To administer requests for information from government departments and ensure timely response to these requests are maintained on behalf of the Police & Crime Commissioner.

To collate and keep accurate records of external material and national developments associated with police service issues to ensure the Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner is effective and transparent.

To assist and administer information in relation to FOI requests, to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.

Undertake all responsibilities relating to information management, data quality, information sharing, intelligence and information security in accordance with the ACPO Guidance on the Management of Police Information in order to achieve compliance with the Statutory Code of Practice.

Skills and necessary experience:

Research skills are essential to the role and an understanding of various research methods will be required.

The postholder should be computer literate to undertake research and analysis to ensure accurate recording of information.

The post holder must be able to work effectively with cross discipline teams, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment to make sure all activity is integrated and avoids duplication.

Knowledge of responsibilities and working practices of partner agencies as new initiatives/legislation frequently involves other agencies, therefore all bodies must be consulted in relation to research.
