JOB TITLE: Legal Secretary (Fixed Term Contract 14 months)

LOCATION: Exeter

SALARY: up to £24,000

HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am - 5:15pm, flexibility with the hours for the right candidate

THE ROLE: The purpose of this role is to provide high quality administrative and other support services within the Property Litigation team. Property Litigation provide litigation for high profile national companies, charities, and private individuals, focusing on all aspects of contentious property matters, including (but not limited to) landlord and tenant issues, adverse possession, easements and title disputes, development disputes and general property issues.

In this role you would play a key role in the wider team to provide Lawyers with quality administrative and support services to enable the efficient delivery of the team operational strategy. This is an exciting and rapidly growing area of the firm and you can expect lots of opportunity to develop your skill set and to be involved in some interesting and challenging work. Diary management: organise travel, meetings and ensure events are fully supported within the Group.
Manage and take calls on behalf of Lawyers.
Assist Lawyers with managing monthly billing procedures, cash collection, expenses and credit control processes.
Deal with file opening and accompanying maintenance procedures: production of terms of business letters, confirmation of instruction letters, ID checks etc.
Deal with all file management tasks to ensure full compliance with Foot Anstey practices and procedures to include: Lexcel, Code of Conduct, and anti-Money Laundering.
Assist with administrative tasks relating to business development including: client research, building marketing lists, co-ordinating external invitations to business development activities, preparing resources to take to client meetings and tracking team business development activity.

THE PERSON:

This company is looking for a person with a positive and practical approach. The ideal person will need excellent IT skills across the MS suite of programmes along with a willingness to learn new computer packages. Good attention to detail, the ability to interact with clients up to the delegated level of authority, building positive relationships and establishing yourself as a key member of the team.

Ability to support fee earners through proactive interaction and understanding of their support needs
Confident prioritisation skills to complete assigned tasks as required
Ability to work independently and within a team both with Support Unit members and the wider team, contributing effectively in team meetings
Ability to understand and interpret complex tasks
The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
Excellent organisational skills to enable proactive working
Prepared to undertake training deemed necessary by the Firm to meet the needs of the business and be flexible in approach
