Do you have experience working as a Transport Supervisor and are looking for you next challenge? If so then an exciting role is available working for a Leading Logistics Provider based in Portbury, Bristol.

Principle purpose of the role:

Supervise the day to day transport operation, to ensure the site meets its daily performance targets, weekly KPI’s and thereby delivers an efficient and effective first class service to the customer within budget.

The role:

In the absence of the Transport Operations Manager be the first point of contact for the customer, assist with enquiries and queries, take full responsibility for operational decisions required to deliver a seamless service for the customer.

Proactively motivate drivers to achieve their planned targets and deadlines by providing guidance and encouragement.

Promote excellent Health & Safety and environmental awareness and challenge poor performance.

Provide the Delivery and Trunking network with a first class service, delivered within the legal constraints of the Operator’s licence and Road Traffic Act legislation.

Ensure the operation is fully compliant with legislation and company tachograph policy relating to infringements and tachograph control for all drivers.

Conduct delivery driver ‘debriefs’ at the end of each shift to check for missed deliveries or other issues and take corrective action.

 Monitor performance, time keeping and sickness levels of colleagues to ensure that disciplinary, grievance and absence procedures are delivered in line with company policy maintaining respect for the individual, consistency, and confidentiality.

Resource drivers / vehicles against the transport plan provided by planning.

Encourage two way feedback and ideas at improving work practices and involve drivers in seeking solutions to operational problems.

Maintain and further develop a high level of teamwork and morale within the department.

The Person:

Experience of supervising a team.

Experience of working within a transport or fast paced environment

Full knowledge of transport legislation.

Experience of delivering targets within budgetary constraints.

Ability to communicate at all levels.

PC literate.

Ability to work on own initiative and meet required targets and deadlines.

The above position will include shift cover over all shifts as the depot operates, therefore, it is essential that you are flexible in your approach to work.
