Senior Transport Planner

We are seeking a temporary (up to 3 months) experienced and motivated Senior Transport Planner in Hounslow.

* Full time - 36 hours per week
* Temporary role - 3 months (possible extension)

£35.00 per hour PAYE
£45.30 per hour Umbrella

Primarily based at home but office working is available and visits to the office might be useful at the start of the contract (not every day though)

Experience of assessing transport impacts of developments, experience/knowledge of highway/transport design standards and guidance (eg/ Manual for Streets, parking standards), experience of assessing or writing Transport Assessments

You will be based in the Transport Planning & Road Safety team and will assist the Principal Transport Planner in providing, developing and managing the Development Management service provided by the Transport Planning team, providing a high level of service to our customers. You will need to work effectively with colleagues across the council to help transform the borough. You will assist the Principal Transport Planner and Head of Transport Planning & Road Safety in managing a challenging and varied workload effectively, assessing and reporting 2/4 the transport and access implications of development proposals.

You will effectively negotiate with developers at all stages of the planning process, especially at pre-application stage, and advise them and their consultants of the transport implications of new developments and advise on all requirements that result from this such as planning conditions and s106 obligations and keep planning case officers fully informed of negotiations. You will support the Principal Transport Planner in relation to development related highway works and road adoptions including Section 278 and 38 (Highways Act) Agreements, managing a portfolio of agreements with minimal supervision and ensuring they are completed and highway works constructed in accordance with agreed details. You will prepare and present evidence and represent our client providing professional evidence on technical matters at Public Inquiries and other planning appeals.
