Adecco are working with our global client based close to Durham who are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Our client are seeking a self‐motivated engineer looking to take a leadership role driving the design and development of highly technical electromechanical products. In this position you will work cross-functionally with global teams of engineers in product development, project management and cost down initiatives while meeting our manufacturing, safety, quality, regulatory code compliance and marketing objectives. You must be energised by driving innovation and new product development, understanding costs and taking a product design from concept to retail presence. Position involves close coordination with business leaders, manufacturing, marketing, industrial design and customer base.

You will have many responsibilities, some will include:

Develop 2D and 3D models of designs for implantation in high volume production
Concept development, prototyping, testing ideas
Learn how to develop products within compliance (i.e. UL, CSA, CE), safety and reliability requirements
Understand and develop technical requirements that tie directly to customer requirements
Working knowledge of the design/manufacturing of plastic moulding, stamped parts and die cast parts
Ability to correctly tolerance parts with GD&T for form, fit, and functions
Perform/specify the required testing for design and performance verification
Ability to work on and coordinate multiple, global projects
Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills

You must have the follow requirements:

BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Demonstrate capabilities to utilise high education level of knowledge to solve problems and create innovative products
Prior experience - product development, design engineering
Knowledge of design and manufacture in electro-mechanical products
Desired: Experience with injection moulding, stamping, machining, electronics, and battery charging systems
Understanding of Electromechanical Systems including motors, controllers & optics
Possess well-developed interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
Think creatively to develop ideas that can be protected by patents
Able to work creatively, with ambiguity
Perform/specify the required testing for design and performance verification
Ability to work on and coordinate multiple, global projects
