Meridian Business Support are recruiting for a materials management assistant to work within a busy hospital in the Manchester area postcode M23.

Hours 37.50 hours Monday to Friday can be flexible on hours. 

Pay rate £9.09 per hour 

Job Purpose
The post holder will manage the day to day inventory management for dedicated areas within the Trust. This post covers a range of tasks, some of which require the exercise of initiative.
Operating within broad procedural guidelines and working to preset timetables the objective for this post holder is to ensure a timely and effect top up stock system. A measure of independent judgment will be required from time to time as most of the working day will be spent at ward level.
The post holder will undertake quarterly stock/non-stock ordering reviews with the appointed ward/departmental lead, Supply Chain evaluations, using system based reports, product rationalization and value for money initiatives, in line with Supplies Department protocols and procedures working at all times with in the Trusts Statutory policies. The role will develop in line with GS1, Scan 4 Safety and Trust initiatives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To implement and maintain service standards across key departments and wards, undertaking the day to day ordering activity on behalf of the customer, in line with agreed protocols.
To be responsible for ensuring that customer’s requirements are always met in the most cost-effective way possible, ensuring continuity of supplies.
Carrying out quarterly reviews with appropriate ward/departmental leads, using system information to illustrate spending patterns, identify and agree all products and stock levels with the customer, monitor usage and activity patterns and place timely and accurate orders to maintain agreed levels.
Regular customer contact to ensure stock levels and the range of products held are regularly reviewed, reflect activity and are updated in agreement with the customer.
Assist in value for money studies to contribute to savings set targets and regularly reports spend/saving activity.
Receive, check and put away all deliveries. Ensuring that items are rotated, stored in the correct location and the store areas are left tidy.
Process and monitor discrepancies ensuring that returns and credits are processed appropriately.
Assist with provision of cover to other areas of the service when necessary.
Keep all associated paperwork regularly updated in line with code and location changes.
To adhere to departmental and trust operating procedures which apply to this post, being responsible for ensuring that work undertaken meets the needs of the end user.
Make recommendations for the rationalisation of product ranges to ward leads.
To attend mandatory training sessions and any other job-related training as defined by dedicated Line manager
Maintain as necessary accurate records, labeling and filing systems in line with trust guidelines.
