Solihull – Benefits Assessor
Location: Manor Square, Solihull, B91 3QB
Contract: Contract to March 2022 with further extensions
Hours: Full Time – Monday - Friday
Payrate: £30 an hour
Description:
Must have experience in carrying out assessments of housing benefits
Experienced of using NORTHGATE is essential
Experience on new claims for housing benefit and council tax reductions
Experience of working for a local authority carrying out Housing benefits assessments
Day to day you will carry out assessments of housing benefits claims, tenure types, new claims and accommodation changes
WFH happy not to be working locally
Have to have their own laptop
We have just moved to Enterprise, so we are happy to train an assessor on this, but they do need Northgate as essential
Role Responsibilities
Assessing new claims and changes of circumstances for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction
To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, computer systems and clerical procedures
Process and respond to queries and requests raised by members of the public by telephone, email or letter including the preparation of statements.
Liaise with other sections, departments and outside bodies e.g. Department of Work and Pension, Landlords, Housing Associations etc.
Undertaking report checking and analysis.
To report any potentially fraudulent claims.
To be responsible for maintaining security of all systems used by the post holder.
To assist with system and software testing.
Assist in updating office procedures and training members of staff within the Division.
Producing high quality, accurate work to agreed performance levels and meeting agreed service standards
Flexible working – work with colleagues to ensure business needs are met and appropriate levels of cover are in place, as the Division moves towards home working, flexible working and off site working
Delivering customer focused services to the residents of Solihull
Any other appropriate duties as and when required
