My client, is a national retailer, with 70+ stores throughout the UK. Due to expansion, they are seeking to appoint an ambitious Transport Planner to join their expanding transport team, which operate out of the Barnsley hub.

My client, is a national retailer, with 70+ stores throughout the UK. Due to expansion, they are seeking to appoint an ambitious Transport Planner to join their expanding transport team, which operate out of the Barnsley hub.
Description
The successful Transport Planner will report directly into the Transport Manager and help oversee and challenge both operational and strategic objectives. You will also be responsible for the following:
Planning for a fleet of 15 vehicles
Analyse vehicle optimisation and assign loads to HGV capacity in compliance with H&S regulations.
Work with the transport manager to continuously update the new plan to meet the ever changing business demands.
Re-plan loads when necessary due to delays, equipment failure or driver issues.
Plan and implement initiatives to improve routing and efficiencies.
Complete and resolve all outstanding load planning issues or pending concerns.
Develop processes and procedures in conjunction with the Transport Manager.
Provide cover for evening and weekends, where necessary.
Support the transport manager by analysing driver data, optimising vehicle utilisation and maximising the use of our fleet to bolster capacity into stores and reduce third party costs.Profile
The successful Transport Planner will be from a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background, and have the following:
2 years experience in Transportation Operations, and a minimum of 1 years experience within Transport Planning.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.)
Highly effective communication in the verbal and written form.
Must be a responsive self-starter and highly motivated within a fast-paced environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and able to adapt to change with new systems and ways of working.
A clear understanding of rules and regulations around driver's hours/working times is essential.
Be commutable to Barnsley
Experienced in transport planning and familiar with permutations of planning for a store network i.e time restrictions, access restrictions, vehicle size restrictions etc.Job Offer
