Are you an experienced Payroll Officer looking for temporary work?

Office Angels currently have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our client; who are based in Peterlee, on a temporary basis for around 3-4 months.

Salary: £25,117 - £26,836
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Location: PeterleeKey duties:

To ensure appropriate controls, analysis and checking processes are in place and complied with in order to validate the accuracy of payroll before and after processing.
Responsible for the administration and implementation of all payroll changes in accordance with grade.
Interpret and ensure compliance with current regulations governing Conditions of Service, all changes to relevant EU/UK legislation affecting Payroll namely, PAYE, National Insurance, Pensions, Working Time Directive payments and Statutory Court Orders. Ensure any implications to the College are fully understood reporting information to the relevant Finance/HR and Managers.
Ensure that the payroll is processed in accordance with auditable procedures.
Maintain an effective Pension Service to the workforce.
Ensure that payroll records for joiners, leavers, retirements, and additional benefits are processed accurately and on time in accordance with scheme regulations and local procedures.
Maintain and develop the integrated payroll system. Update system for pay awards and all relevant changes to employee allowances/deductions at company level.
To provide assistance to Managers with salary budget forecasts.
Liaison with external companies with regard to voluntary deductions from salary.
Managing all monthly payroll changes / entries.
Liaison and compliance with payroll auditors.
First point of contact for HMRC, Courts, CSA and Pension providers (LGPS and Teachers) including full administration and associated tasks.
Liaison with the payroll software provider with regard to software issues.
In-house processing and upload of all payroll, reports and HMRC electronic filing.
End of Year and new tax year processing.
Initialising recovery of company sick pay from third party insurance claims.
Preparation of pension year end returns.
Preparation and production of monthly salary reports to the Finance department and Senior Management team.
Production of monthly payroll vouchers for Finance department.
Monthly meeting with Vice Principal for Finance to discuss payroll costs and changes.
Strategic involvement with the Finance Director regarding the transfer of data from the payroll to finance system. Key Competencies:

Substantial experience of working in payroll function.
Working to deadlines in a busy environment.
Using databases/electronic tools effectively.
Maintaining confidentiality.
Operating within set policies/frameworks.
Demonstrable understanding of finance procedures.
Must be organised, able to process payroll information to meet frequent tight deadlines and demonstrate an organised and efficient approach to work.
Strong customer service ethic and communication skills.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, concise and effective way.
