CareTech provides a range of services for people with a learning disability. We pride ourselves on delivering a quality service and expect our staff to work with us to this end by respecting the service users, carers and other professionals who come into contact with us during their work.
We are currently seeking a Maintenance Person to carry out repairs at our Services. It is essential that you have carpentry, plumbing, tiling and minor electrical skills along with small garden experience.
Responsible to the Maintenance Manager
Main Purpose
•To attend to repairs/jobs as designated by the Estates Manager & Estates Administrator.
•To carry out general/emergency maintenance at sites in Cheltenham/Gloucester/Stoke on Trent/Leicester/Birmingham/Telford . Occasionally you will be required to attend Services in the North of England.
•To undertake any necessary maintenance work in any of the units that falls within your skills and abilities.
Responsibilities:
•To provide effective and efficient maintenance of homes and the whole site.
•To carry out general maintenance works in a safe manner and observe the safety of others.
•To liaise with contractors, representatives and suppliers where required.
•To obtain quotes, prices and comparisons of services to feed back to management.
•To complete all necessary administration and recording in accordance with CareTech guidelines as is necessary to fulfil the post.
•To fulfil the standards of maintenance as laid down by CareTech Quality Assurance system.
•Escort contractors/visitors while onsite.
•Undertake training opportunities when they are identified.
•Understanding and maintaining the heating systems and report defects to the estates manager.
•Observe and maintain heating fuel capacities at all times and liaise with supplier to replenish stocks in a timely manner.
•Carry out weekly alarm testing and keep records.
•Arrange cyclical painting and decoration of rooms and corridors etc.
•Carry stocks of consumable materials, light fittings, tubes & bulbs, locks, handles, plumbing materials and replenish when necessary.
•Positive interaction and an understanding of service user Behaviour and needs.
•Ability to communicate effectively with all site personnel.
•Grass cutting duties/grounds maintenance in accordance with the lease.
•Carry out pat testing of site electricals and maintain up to date records.
•Carry out refurbishment of flats for marketing purposes.
•To respond effectively and with priority to emergency repairs.
•Maintain the security of the site.
•On call cover/Rota and weekend cover essential.
•Carry out and log meter/utility readings.
•Safe use of ladder work (two operatives)
•Awareness of health & safety requirements.
•Occasionally carry out general/emergency maintenance at external sites
•Arrange delivery and collection of skips.
•Keep site clean and tidy and presentable at all times.
•Maintenance of company vehicle.
Clean driving licence essential.
General
•To ensure that CareTech policy is positive
•To accept regular supervision.
•To participate in the organisation staff appraisal system.
•To accept training opportunities when they are identified
• To ensure that all information is treated as confidential unless otherwise directed.
• To cover any duties required by the Company.
