I am thrilled to be partnering with a market leader within the distribution industry on their search for an Operations Director based in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast paced company that are growing substantially.
The Operations Director will be responsible for the successful operational delivery, and will need to be commercially astute with a focus on cost optimisation, driving change & continuous improvement, and customer service.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Provide leadership & coaching to the operational team; ensuring performance targets are hit whilst maintaining a highly motivated team.
* Provide a coaching culture promoting personal development and succession planning.
* Ensure effective resource utilisation and accurate forecasting of resourcing levels.
* Provide continuous improvement across the operation continually evolving the existing operating model.
* Drive controlled and measured change within the operation, creating the agility and flexibility within the operation to adapt.
* Review existing processes to ensure they are adept with changes in the market and customer needs.
* Provide ongoing support to internal and external stakeholders.
* Manage the operational budget, capital projects, and have accountability for the achievement of budgets across operations.
* Lead the development of new operational processes and policies, identifying risks and improving consistency.
Key skills required for the role:
* Experience leading an operations team within a fast-paced, dynamic logistics environment.
* String leadership skills with the ability to drive change.
* Leadership experience across a matrix environment.
* Ability to take full ownership of an operation and accountability for delivering results.
* Commercially orientated with the ability to liaise across all functions.
* Evidence of business impact and achievement.
* Excellent project management and time management skills.
* 5 years + experience at a similar level.
* Degree educated (advantageous)
