JOB TITLE: Finance Manager

LOCATION: Glastonbury, Somerset (Mainly office based)

SALARY: Circa £37K DOE

HOURS: Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm with an hour for lunch (there may be some flexibility on start and finish times but you must be looking for full time hours)

THE COMPANY: Our growing client based on a picturesque farm in rural Somerset is home to a number of successful businesses within agriculture, property and renewable energy. THE ROLE: You will be supporting and assisting the Group Financial Controller in the day-to-day management of the Group's finance department, including line managing and developing the 2 finance assistants and taking responsibility for preparing and overseeing all financial functions to ensure excellent levels of service and continued profitability across the Group's companies. The role will involve liaising with other departments across the Group to maintain accurate and timely financial information whilst providing support in finance matters, as required.

Main responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Group Financial Controller in the day-to-day management of the finance department, including planning and delegation of workload to the team, preparing performance reports for Senior Management meetings and overseeing all finance systems.
Monitor budgets across the Group and report performance to individual budget holders, suggesting revisions where necessary.
Proactively prepare for year-end audits to ensure a smooth assessment process, liaising with external auditors as required.
Ensure all Group companies remain tax compliant completing VAT returns and reporting to HMRC.
Oversee the administration of all payroll, remuneration and benefits in kind (BIKs) payments to ensure all employees receive an efficient and timely service.
Develop strong working relationships with our stakeholders to enable efficient working processes and maintaining the positive reputation of the company with the banks.
Line manage departmental staff to ensure their knowledge is up-to-date, they're working effectively and being supported to develop within their roles.
Work with any new accounting systems and support the implementation across the Group, as required.
Manage Credit Control
Maintain a good working knowledge of all updates in the finance industry (including new legislation, accounting systems and competitor activity) to proactively suggest improvements to support the ongoing development of the Group.
Manage the positive image of the finance department across the Group by providing a high level of support and service, whilst building strong working relationships with all employees.
Uphold professional boundaries at all times, working confidentially and with discretion across all tasks.
Take on any other responsibilities or tasks that are within your skills and abilities whenever reasonably asked.THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE:

Significant experience in a similar role, or busy finance department with generalist experience.
Experienced in preparing management accounts, dealing with Director's personal tax and managing statutory accounts and year-end processes.
Excellent IT skills, comfortable using a range of accounting and tax packages and with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Adaptable - flexible in approach and quick to learn, particularly in technical areas.
Demonstrable experience managing and developing a team or individual employees.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with people at all levels with diplomacy.
Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
Excellent communication skills, in written and spoken English.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced, demanding and changeable environment.
Ability to solve problems in a calm and methodical manner, and use own initiative.
Strong customer service focus, with a positive, professional and proactive attitude.
Well organised, with the ability to prioritise, multi-tasking and effectively meet deadlines.
Possess a full clean UK driving licence.Desirable

Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA).
Experience of using multiple accounting software packages.
Experience of undergoing and managing a finance system change in a previous workplace.
Experience working within a private sector company, preferably within a business Group setting.
