We are working with a growing company who operate in an area of growth who are looking to appoint an Applications Engineer/Proposals Engineer to join their team to use your technical knowledge along with sales skills to provide advice and support on a range of solutions.

You will assist colleagues with bids and tenders for new customers from a technical perspective.

You will be the key point of contact for customers, answering queries, providing technical advice and provide both pre and post-sales advice for customers. You'll liaise regularly with other members of the team and colleagues from a range of departments and support the engineer department with creating budget and proposal information for submission to the customer.

The role includes (but is not limited to) the following responsibilities:

* Receive and analyses Customer enquiries through the CRS and formal enquiry specifications

* Preparing tenders, proposals and quotation information

* Providing pre-sales and post-sales support

* Create quotations with accurate costing sheets

* Take ownership of the costing sheet templates ensuring they remain accurate by liasing with

* Communicate to internal/external stakeholders project ownership for a specific quotation and give estimated completion date

* Where necessary convene Quotation Initiations Meetings for significant projects

* Co-ordinate the compilation of the bid proposal information – including the technical proposal, scope of supply, functional technical specifications, delivery programme, and other such supporting information

* Prepare cost and pricing information, together with the necessary risk assessments

* Communicate and liaise with management and stakeholders any extension of time requirements for specific bid submission(s)

* Support any post bid Questions/Answers phase as part of the clarification process

* Following receipt of any PO in relation to the proposal, prepare a Technical Pack and attend the Systems Kick Off Meeting in support of a Contract hand-over

* Be involved with any possible ‘lessons learned’ review from any failed bids

* Be available for clarification of any matter relating to the bid during the Contract stage, together with providing commercial support for the clarification and cost quantification relating to any emerging works in the form of Variation Claims

* To be involved in ‘Contract Review’ activity at the conclusion of a Contract to look at overall performance versus bid assumptions

* To be an operational member of the bids team to ensure systems are quoted on time and to specification.

* Assist with producing customer specific technical and quality information as required for proposals

* Produce draft designs and diagrams according to the given specifications

* Assist and coordinate with designers and engineers

* Support the continuous improvement program and embrace as part of standard work.

Requirements:

Knowledge of design requirements to comply with current EU/UKCA legislation (machine directives, CE certifications…)

Knowledge of current EU design standards

Knowledge of PED (pressure equipment directive)

Knowledge of ATEX

Systems engineering

Commercial awareness (pricing, scoping, delivery program, legal awareness…)

Strong technical skills

Research and analytical skills

Organisational skills

The ability to negotiate with and influence others

develop long-term relationships with clients, through managing and interpreting their requirements

Must have an appropriate Engineering Related Qualifications
