Job Details

A Learning Disability Support Worker is required to work within a specialist private supported living service based in Colchester!

Driver is essential as there are no transport links.

Temporary Pay Rate:
*Standard Days: £10.75ph ltd
*Nights & Saturdays: £11.50ph ltd
*Sundays & Bank Holidays: £11.75ph ltd

Hours and length of contract:
*Full Time: 37.5 hours per week
*Initial 3 month contract length, likelihood of extension
*DAYS OR NIGHT CONTRACT
oLong Days: 8am-8pm
oLong Nights: 8pm to 8am
*The manager is looking for the position to be filled ASAP

Daily Duties:
You will work within a private supported living complex which consists of four houses and a total of 25 bedrooms for adults with learning disabilities and complex care needs. As a support worker your role will be to support these individuals to live as independently as possible.
Complex needs can include:
*Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC)
*Asperger's Syndrome
*Bipolar Disorder
*Depression
*Downs Syndrome
*Epilepsy
*Personality Disorder
*Schizophrenia
*Speech and Language Difficulties

As a support worker you will provide high quality and compassionate care to the service users, be responsible for their general well-being.
Daily duties include but are not limited to:
*Providing physical, emotional, spiritual and social support to service users
*Working closely with staff and tenants in promoting individual packages of care that reflect the person's chosen lifestyle
*Supporting tenants in leisure, education and employment services inside and outside of the home
*Supporting tenants as much as possible to undertake household chores, including planning and pre-paring meals
*Assisting tenants in maintaining their personal hygiene where necessary
*Support with food shopping, gardening, pottery
*Giving medication as required
*Completing written reports and notes
*Supporting tenants with leisure activities such as: arts and crafts, dancing, music, football, bowling, cinema

Person specification
The applicant must have a clear DBS and have recent and relevant experience and an NVQ in Health and Social Care.
