Operational Development Specialist

Responsibilities as an OD Specialist, you will:

Act as an internal OD consultant devising and implementing OD solutions that align with the business's strategy and that enhance organisational effectiveness
Lead on and support with the roll-out of change programmes at both a local and organisational level
Lead on discrete OD and learning and development projects, aligned to our OD plan
Analyse and diagnose areas for improvement with teams and recommend solutions
Provide skilful design, delivery and facilitation for cross-directorate events, workshops, and meetings
Work in conjunction with the senior HR team and external partners in the design and delivery of leadership and management development programmesLearning and development

Designing and delivering a range of learning interventions, including soft skills and line management skills
Utilising a range of delivery methods, including face-to-face, virtual and digital delivery
Continuously evaluating delivery methods, and researching and proposing new solutions, such as podcasts and vlogs, which complement our L&D offering.

Essential criteria

Qualifications

Educated to postgraduate level in a relevant subject (such as HR, L&D, organisational development, psychology), or equivalent level of experience working in a similar roleKnowledge and skills

A thorough knowledge of Microsoft office packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in using a Learning Management System for managing course bookings, e-learning and reporting
Ability to adapt plans "on the fly", altering the style, tone and topic as required
Communicate succinctly, clearly and accurately in plain simple English, both verbally and in writing
Be an effective team member who can relate to colleagues at all levels with tact and diplomacy
Be a self-starter who can work under little supervision and who can take the initiative
Prioritise own workload and take responsibility for delivering results within agreed timescales and standards with changing priorities and pressures
Use initiative to look out for issues at work, acting quickly and calmly to focus on finding a solution

Experience

Experience in designing and delivering learning interventions to a variety of audiences, including soft skills training
Experience in facilitating workshops and team discussions
Experience of coaching line managers and staff
Experience of evaluating learning interventions using a recognised method such as Kirkpatrick model
Experience of supporting organisations through periods of changeOther

Flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable criteria

Knowledge and skills

Qualified to administer ability and personality psycho-metrics (formerly Level A and Level B)
Qualified in the use of team development tools such as MBTI
Qualification in coaching and/or mentoring
Chartered Member of CIPD (MCIPD)

Experience

Experience in delivering team days based on personality tools such as MBTI
Experienced in using 360-degree feedback
Experience of designing and delivering digital learning interventions
Experience of working with digital development tools such as e-learning/podcast softwareExperience of using ESR's learning management system
