Day Time Support Worker
Salary Range: £15,398.58 – £20,026.29 pro rata, per annum
(pro-rata term time only £12,491.20 – £16,250.40)
starting salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience
40 hours per week, 37 weeks per year
Based at Argent College, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham
The successful applicant will be required to promote and ensure the safety, care and wellbeing, learning and development of the students to enable their growth in confidence and social and practical skills. This role can be both physically/emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence and patience to manage the challenging behaviours that the young people can present. This rewarding role will give you the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the children and young people in our care.
The key duties in this role will include:
- the supervision and support of students throughout the college day, both in sessions and free time
- encouraging students to attend planned sessions and to help them become engaged in the curriculum activities
- completion of relevant paperwork as required
- supporting college safeguarding procedures by reporting quickly and effectively any disclosures to the college Safeguarding Team
To undertake this position successfully, you will have:
- knowledge of specialist education
- experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities and challenging behaviour
- excellent communication and organisational skills
- a flexible and professional approach to work
