Job Details

My client based in Ayr is currently looking for a Mechanical Technician to work with them on a 3 month contract basis which is most likely to be extended beyond this point. There will also be potential travel to their Paisley site.

Pay rate: £13 - £15.50 per hour

Hours: 8am - 4pm Monday - Friday.

Key Result Areas:

To participate in the programmes of work related to the operation, maintenance and upgrading of the installed building services and related infrastructure. All in accordance with Regulations & Statutory requirements with the aim of delivering an excellent efficient service.

Participate in a programme of planned preventative maintenance for engineering services and associated controls, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water circulation and sewerage systems and laboratory services providing a safe and comfortable environment in all university facilities.
To perform condition assessment, investigate, trace/fault find, analyse, test, repair and report on equipment within a diverse range of mechanical, systems,HVAC,LPHW, plumbing services, equipment and appliances in order to provide a safe, comfortable working environment within the multi campus estate.
To undertake reactive, emergency, planned and unplanned repair requirements across all University sites and ensure that all work is performed in a safe, timeous, effective and responsive manner with minimum downtime and disruption to service users.
Possess a working knowledge of BMS. Use the BMS to Identify and resolve faults to ensure effective, energy efficient operation of all building systems.
Access, interrogate, download, enter and update information via the computerised Estates and Buildings Information System (EBIS). Action Work Requests, PPM work orders etc. allocated in an efficient and logical sequence.
Undertake other tasks in which the post holder has demonstrated competence, to enable the post holder to perform a work request without any delay associated with having to wait for other technical or operative related attendance, including re-instatement on completion, e.g. form opening in ceiling/wall finish to permit access to equipment or systems installed within or make safe, isolate supplies, ease obstruction aside to permit access to faulty/failed equipment, effect repairs, test, reinstate associated equipment, test and re-commission, or erect access equipment, perform work, dismantle and store access equipment.
Undertake tasks in which the post holder is competent which do not ordinarily fall within the remit of their specialist field.
Ensure that related aspects of Health and Safety are adhered to at all times by subordinate staff and contractors to provide a safe and comfortable working environment for staff, students and visitors and to ensure that the risk of statutory or regulatory noncompliance is minimised for the University.
To participate in a programme of building services refurbishment including new installation work, modernising and upgrading of existing facilities, plant equipment, control systems etc
Participate in, contribute to, and support environmental and sustainability initiatives, monitoring and reporting across the campus.
Be versatile flexible and adaptable to support the priorities of the Engineering Services team within a customer focused environment.
Work as a member of a team or on their own as directed by their line Manager.
Be willing to follow a path of CPD and develop abilities in related activities and emerging technologies, e.g. sustainability and information technology.

Qualifications Required:

HNC in relevant engineering discipline or have relevant and practical work experience or;

Relevant city and guilds and extensive work experience

Experience:

Time served mechanical engineer with significant work experience in all aspects of mechanical installations, maintenance, repair and upgrades

developed knowledge and experience of engineering equipment and systems, eg; ventilations, heating, water distribution, local exhaust ventilation and compressed air systems
