Technical Support Engineer - Automation
Introduction
My client - a globally reknowned business know for their premium quality are seeking a Technial Support Engineer to work wuthin their Automation Systems Division providing automation and control solutions to the manufacturing and process industries.
Providing effective, high quality, efficient Engineering Support for our customers and our sales team, is crucial to developing and securing their business.
The role of the Technical Support Engineer is to provide a first line technical support service that demonstrates the added value and service that the Engineering Support Team provides.
Technical Support Engineer - Automation Role
This position requires the candidate to be capable of programming and configuring Inverter Drives and Servo Drives, HMI units and PLC’s and to configure these systems over industrial networks, in being able to provide technical support on these products there is an expectation that the candidate will have knowledge of electrical and electronic practices, switchgear and electrical control practices and Network Architectures enabling them to be able to offer support for our business power and control solutions. Experience with SCADA systems or Medium Voltage control and switching would also be an advantage.
Training on specific products will be provided.
This post is an internal technical support role within the system services team and will involve the provision of technical assistance to customers, internal staff and Distributors for pre-sale and post-sale activities principally over the phone and by email.
Product training will be available and this may involve travel to other locations globally and interfacing with third party suppliers of software solutions both in the UK and overseas to resolve issues.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to liaise with customers at all levels while gaining key automation technical knowledge which is required for this vital role. It also offers a chance to develop an understanding of the daily operations in a business-to-business environment within a competitive and dynamic industry. On-going training across our product range and technologies will enable career progression within the business and industry.
Technical Support Engineer - Automation Key Requirements
We are looking for a, smart, outgoing person who is an excellent builder of relationships. The successful candidate must have very good interpersonal and good customer care skills.
It is necessary for the individual to be highly organised, be self-motivated and take ownership of problems through to their conclusion.
Must be a team player to ensure suitable outcomes for customers both within direct team and the wider organisation
A willingness to learn the technical background required to do the job effectively is essential. Knowledge of electrical / electronic engineering and networking ideally obtained via a degree level course is expected.
It is essential that the candidate has excellent communication skill, both written and spoken with excellent diction and clarity.
