The Organisation: CareTech Community Services is a national provider of support for people with complex behaviours associated with autism, learning disabilities, mental health illness and neurological conditions. We support people to live as independently as possible within their own homes and also in residential care.
The Role: We are looking for a suitably qualified & experienced Full Time Senior Support Worker to join our friendly Maesincla based team at our service. We are a residential service, supporting up to 6 individuals with various mental health issues & low level learning disabilities and aspects of challenging behaviour. You will be providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to have fulfilled lives and gain further independence. There is a bus service a short walk from the service and these run regularly. You must be able to demonstrate a reliable and flexible approach to people with a broad spectrum of mental health diagnoses & learning difficulties and have the confidence to handle complex behaviours that can at times be challenging. You will be reporting to the Service Manager and will be responsible for a team of Support Workers. A Full driving licence is required. You will need to be flexible as you will be required to work shifts including bank holidays & weekends.
The successful candidate for the role of Senior Support Worker will have:
- The ability to keep calm under pressure
- Experience to work alone and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills
- The passion to work with vulnerable Adults
- The desire and commitment to achieve high
standards of safeguarding
- Previous experience is essential and full training will be given.
- NVQ Level 3 and above in Health & Social Care
- Bilingual Welsh/English speakers highly desirable
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To participate in the day-to-day implementation of individual support plans and activities within a challenging environment
To maintain effective communication and liaison with service users, families and other whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality
To support service users with the preparation of meals, laundry duties, cleaning and social events
To maintain accurate notes and records as and when required
To work as part of a team to provide high quality care.
Due to the nature of the position, successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure prior to commencement of employment, the disclosure expense will be met by the employer.
