Purpose of the Role:
As a middle manager within the Council you will:
• Lead, manage and motivate the team to deliver high performance
• Ensure that corporate/departmental people practices are understood and implemented within your service
• Effectively manage budgets and projects within your service ensuring effective cost management and prioritisation
• Monitor and evaluate your team’s performance and recommend areas for improvement based on evidence
• Coach and support staff to develop
• Recommend areas for service improvement based on relevant data and information
• Communicate effectively with elected members and other partners/stakeholders
• Collaborate constructively with partner organisations and other stakeholders including internal services and colleagues
• Build a culture of trust in your team
Key Accountabilities:
1. Provide technical oversight and a quality assurance function across the Councils non-domestic gas servicing, repair and heating replacement programmes.
2. Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across the Councils water hygiene risk assessment and remediation works contracts.
3. To fulfil an audit and inspection programme, to validate and monitor the quality of non-domestic gas installations, across the housing portfolio, including capital project works; new build and regeneration schemes.
4. Provide technical advice to colleagues in regards to; communal heating systems; heat networks and ground /air source and heat recovery systems
5. To undertake surveys and inspections to existing non-domestic systems in order to produce feasibility studies and business cases to support asset investment programmes or innovation.
Person Specification/Selection Criteria
Job Specifics – Skills, Experience, Knowledge & Abilities
* Substantial experience, of working in a similar role in social housing;
* Practical knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations and associated British Standards;
* Able to review/ draft technical specifications relevant to gas installations
* Knowledge of products and performance specifications for boilers; water heater; heating systems and ground source heat systems.
* An understanding of the Carbon Neutral agenda and retrofit schemes in sector.
