A local authority based in North London is looking for a Permanent Gas & Water Quality Inspector to join their M&E team. This is a full time, permanent role and the successful candidate will have a full Commercial Gas qualifications, Legionella Qualifications and BPEC regulations certificate, along with extensive experience with inspecting Water and Gas supplies, along with ideally extensive experience in a similar local authority role.
The main purpose of the role is to provide quality assurance across our non-domestic gas and water hygiene services. Working in conjunction with the M&E & Compliance manager, you will be responsible for monitoring the quality of works completed by our contractors and undertaking regular audits, to ensure our suppliers have the necessary systems in place to deliver their contractual obligations in line with the Councils KPIs.
The main responsibilities of this position are as follows;
Provide technical oversight and a quality assurance function across the Councils non-domestic gas servicing, repair and heating replacement programmes.
Provide technical oversight and quality assurance across the Councils water hygiene risk assessment and remediation works contracts.
To fulfil an audit and inspection programme, to validate and monitor the quality of non-domestic gas installations, across the housing portfolio, including capital project works; new build and regeneration schemes.
Provide technical advice to colleagues in regards to; communal heating systems; heat networks and ground /air source and heat recovery systems
To undertake surveys and inspections to existing non-domestic systems in order to produce feasibility studies and business cases to support asset investment programmes or innovation.
To act as Contract Administrator for small project works (up to a value of £100,000) under the supervision of the Head of Compliance and M&E.
To review O&M information, upon receipt and in liaison with the Compliance Delivery Officer(s) and Compliance & M&E Manager, to ensure PPM programmes are reviewed/ updated, to ensure all systems are subject to suitable maintenance, testing and inspection programmes.
To maintain their professional qualifications, at all times, or undertake new or further qualifications, as required by the Head of M&E and Compliance, in furtherance of the Councils statutory duties as a Landlord.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following qualifications or be willing to complete these within the probationary period;
CODNCO1 or COCDN1
CDGA1
CIGA1
COCN1
ICPN1
TPCP1A
City & Guilds Accredited Risk Assessment For Legionella Control In Water Systems (WH004).
City & Guilds Legionella Responsible Person Training.
BPEC - Water Regulations certificate (WREG)
Candidates will also be able to demonstrate the following;
Substantial experience, of working in a similar role in social housing;
Practical knowledge of Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations and associated British Standards;
Able to review/ draft technical specifications relevant to gas installations
Knowledge of products and performance specifications for boilers; water heater; heating systems and ground source heat systems.
An understanding of the Carbon Neutral agenda and retrofit schemes in sector.
